Well done to Samuel for writing a fab story, which was carefully edited. Both judges thought it was excellent and I’m delighted to publish the story below (with Mum’s permission, of course).
Luka and the Dragon
Chapter 1: Luka’s Home
Luka was a boy; he is eight years old and lived in a house on Oaktree Road with his Mum and Dad. It was a small house, but it was just the way he liked it. Luka woke up to a brand-new day at school, he is in Year 4 and goes to Oaktree School which as he says is the place of his imagination. Luka was a smart kid, so he liked education and school which is surprising for few adults, so Luka walked through the school gate and onto the playground where he chatted to his friends Hector, Jake, and Jasmine. Jasmine was Luka’s best friend and as she was Luka’s best friend Jasmine would play with Luka all the time. “The whistle has gone we have to go in.” Said Jasmine “Okay Jasmine let’s go in now!” Luka Said but Luka did not realize this was not an ordinary school day.
Chapter 2: The classroom
Luka and Jasmine walked in to find their teacher Mrs. Robin with the register ready for the kids to order their lunches. “Packed Lunch please” said five kids “School dinner please” said six kids but Luka and Jasmine chose school dinners and so they began the school day.
Chapter 3: An Unusual Assembly
All the kids in the classroom walked to the assembly hall to find no one there. Then they heard a noise, a tiny roar coming from down the corridor, no one saw it, but they knew what it was. I will not tell you yet though as that is all to read in the next chapter.
Chapter 4: The Uninvited Guest
There it was walking right towards them was a dragon!!! I’ll let you predict what happened next yep you know it they ran away, the Teachers the Adults like everyone apart from Luka and Jasmine who just stared at this magnificent beast in awe as they admired the dragon spoke “Hello I am Ash the Dragon from Fireland I am here on a quest to find the treasure of Fireland we hid it in the human world so no baddies from Fireland would steal it can you read this map cause I honestly don’t know where to go.” Said the dragon. “Sure!” said Jasmine and Luka and so they set off on a mission to find the treasure of Fireland.
Chapter 5: The Quest
They read the map with caution and look at all the twists and turns that led them to the treasure. The map started off here in their school and so when the weekend started, they set off. They started on their school road then turned right towards the farm where they found their first clue it read. Here you go when you are in a bad mood, how about you go to your room? And so, they went to Luka’s room they did not find the clue there but they found the clue in Jasmine’s room and so they read the next clue. Clue 2 now awaits you where do you go for a play it is right this way how about you go to the park and so as you imagined they went to the park where the next clue was lying on a bench the next clue read “The last clue it’s all up to you go and have a look in the woods.” And so, they went to the woods where X was laid with sticks and so they dug with the shovels located next to the X and began digging and then they found the treasure.
Chapter 6: Heading Home
Now that they’ve found the treasure, they were ready to head home and have dinner “Bye!” Said Luka and Jasmine “Bye!” Said the Dragon and so the Dragon left to go back to Fireland and enjoy his life with the other dragons. As for Luka and Jasmine, they went back to school on Monday and told everyone about their adventure but only one person believed it.
Chapter 7: The Epilogue
Once they’d found the treasure the Dragon went home and got married to another dragon called Patricia. As for Luka and Jasmine, they went round to each other’s houses and now they are in Year 5 and happily enjoying their life at school.
