There’s no avoiding the news. We’ve all been doing our bit – handwashing, keeping our distance, buying sensibly – but now it looks like measures are being stepped up.
They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but this particular old dog has been learning quite a few, and having to learn fast. I’m now comfortable that we can offer online tutition for all our current students, and if schools close we will be able to offer some extra slots for anyone needing extra support or revision boosters.
Initially, most sessions will be held using Zoom – which is incredibly easy to use, you simply follow the link I’ll e mail you – but I’m working on extending a Discord platform that would afford extra areas for homework and parent queries. Sessions will include screen sharing and a fab new (to me) method of sharing work – bit paper. A link to the document we are working on will be e mailed before hand and both student and I can annotate the work as we go along.
It’s not perfect, but having made the other half endure a session and some document- sharing, I can say with some confidence, it’s easy, it works and it will mean your children can access meaningful education at this difficult time.
Don’t hesitate to message us if we can help at all, and keep healthy.
