Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: The Golden Ticket
Tentatively, Charlie entered the shop. He observed. He peeked. He peered. Charlie knew he desired the Scrumdiddlyumptious lolly. Delighted to have a hungry looking customer the friendly shopkeeper handed him the wonderfully creamy, soft chocolate bar. Shaking, like a tremoring earthquake Charlie was filled with complete delight. The creamy yet soft chocolate cascaded down his throat like a rushing waterfall. The remaining bits of chocolate, fizzled on his tongue as they melted, It was the most mouth-watering thing he had ever tasted.
“Steady on”, exclaimed the flabbergasted shopkeeper. “You will get indigestion if you eat it that quickly”. Charlie continued to inhale the chocolate bar at a rapid pace. There was no sign of the glimmering, golden ticket although he still enjoyed the contentment of tasting something exceedingly sweet on his tongue again.
Clink! Charlie felt the coins, wet from his sweaty palms in his hands and placed them on the sparkling clean, highly polished, wooden counter to show the still surprised shopkeeper he wanted another Scrumdiddlyumptious lolly. Cheerily…merrily… blissfully… the boy opened the vivid red wrapper. Twinkling…shimmering… glinting inside was the last golden ticket in the whole wide world. Charlie couldn’t believe his big brown eyes.
