A quick Spatial Awareness activity

The Spatial Awareness parts of the Kent Test can be quite challenging for some children, so here’s a a little activity I’ve created for my students. You will need some blank plastic dice – you can get these for about £2.50 on ebay.

I’ve put a downloadable sheet on our Links and Resources page.

Spatial awareness dice activity (requires blank dice)

  • Draw a different pattern on each face of the dice using wipeable felt pens – to begin with use a different colour for each face but as you become more confident reduce the colours.
  • Place the dice at an angle so you can see 3 sides. Draw what you see.
  • Rotate the dice and draw the new view.
  • How many different views can you get?
  • Make a net of your cube.
  • Cut it out and check that it is the same as your dice.
